Auto major Force Motors and German luxury carmaker BMW Group have marked a significant milestone, rolling out the 100,000th engine from their state-of-the-art assembly facility in Chennai.

The milestone engine was installed in a BMW X5 sports utility vehicle, showcasing the fruits of the Indo-German industrial partnership at the Singaperumalkoil plant near Chennai.

This collaboration between BMW Group India and Force Motors exemplifies the potential of international cooperation in manufacturing excellence.

In a statement on Wednesday, the companies noted, “The successful roll-out of 100,000 engines is not just a manufacturing achievement—it reflects vision, collaboration, and large-scale execution.”

Marcus Wollens, Vice President of BMW Production Network 2, BMW AG, said, “We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone at Force Motors’ Chennai plant, a result of a decade-long partnership built on dedication. Our engines represent cutting-edge engineering, innovative technology, and top-tier performance. This milestone embodies our shared vision and the enduring strength of Indo-German synergy.”

Force Motors Managing Director Prasan Firodia added, “We are honoured to be a trusted, strategic partner to BMW Group India. This milestone stands as a testament to the precision, quality, and commitment underpinning our collaboration.”

Established in 2015, the Chennai facility was exclusively built to manufacture engines for BMW’s full range of cars produced in India. Featuring advanced automation, rigorous quality controls, digitally integrated operations, and a skilled workforce, the plant consistently meets BMW Group’s stringent global manufacturing standards.

The plant plays a crucial role in BMW’s localisation strategy, seamlessly integrating global excellence with local expertise.

Thomas Dose, Managing Director of BMW Group Plant Chennai, said, “Our facility proudly produces vehicles that uphold the same international quality standards as any BMW plant worldwide. Our partnership with Force Motors raises the bar in quality and embodies our strong commitment to ‘Make in India’ and localisation.” He described the 100,000th engine roll-out as “a proud moment reflecting the strength of our collaboration.”
