Scania has launched the Super 11 engine, a cutting-edge addition to the 11-litre engine segment that promises enhanced performance, greater flexibility, and improved fuel efficiency. Positioned strategically between Scania’s 9-litre and 13-litre platforms, the Super 11 delivers up to 7% better fuel economy compared to the 9-litre engine while shedding 85 kg compared to the Super 13.
Available in three power variants—350 hp (1,800 Nm), 390 hp (2,000 Nm), and 430 hp (2,200 Nm)—the Super 11 meets Euro 4, 5, and 6 emission standards, making it versatile enough for a wide range of transport applications, from urban logistics to regional haulage. The engine will be available for purchase starting June 2025.
Sharing 85% of its components with the Super 13, the Super 11 preserves Scania’s signature engineering quality, offering a tailored solution that balances strength, reliability, and operational efficiency. Ayyoob Zarmehri, Product Manager for Trucks Sales and Marketing at Scania, described the new engine as “lighter, leaner and more flexible,” ideal for operators who require an optimal balance between performance, payload capacity, and sustainability.
The Super 11 also extends maintenance intervals by up to 30% compared to the 9-litre engine when paired with LDF-5 engine oil, reducing downtime and lowering service costs.
Among its advanced features, the engine incorporates Scania’s cam phaser technology for variable valve timing, enhancing combustion efficiency and thermal management. Upgraded engine software, balance shafts, and a powerful engine brake further improve the driving experience. Additionally, Scania’s patented turbo dosing system optimizes AdBlue consumption, boosting overall engine efficiency.
Designed with sustainability in mind, the Super 11 supports alternative fuels such as HVO and FAME, enabling operators to reduce emissions without requiring new fueling infrastructure.
Engineered to serve a diverse range of operations—including tipper and bulk transport, fuel and volume goods haulage, refuse collection, temperature-controlled logistics, general cargo, hooklift and flatbed with crane, recovery, and fire services—the Super 11 is poised to set new standards in the medium-duty truck segment.
