In a bid to bolster agricultural productivity ahead of the rainy season, Mansur Soro, the member representing Darazo-Ganjuwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has donated a Massey Ferguson 375 tractor to local farmers.

The donation, made on Saturday, forms part of the Darazo-Ganjuwa Farm Mechanisation Support Initiative and is aimed at registered farmers within the constituency.

“This latest contribution adds to the same model of tractor we previously secured after registering the association with the appropriate government bodies back in 2020,” Soro stated during the presentation.

The lawmaker also launched the first phase of the MMS Young Millionaires in Agriculture programme, an initiative designed to empower 125 youths with resources to engage in rice farming.

Each participant received a comprehensive farming package that includes four bags of NPK 15-15-15 fertiliser, 15 kilograms of Faro-69 improved rice seeds, four litres of assorted pesticides and herbicides, a N20,000 farm clearance grant, and a spraying machine.

Soro explained that the initiative aims to support the cultivation of one acre per participant, with each farmer expected to yield up to 40 bags of paddy rice—an estimated value of N2 million.

“The second phase of this empowerment project will commence following the successful implementation and assessment of the first phase by our team of agricultural extension officers,” he said.

He emphasised that agricultural development remains a top priority under his leadership, stating, “Darazo-Ganjuwa Federal Constituency, under my humble representation, is prioritising agricultural intervention for the betterment of our people.”
