Mahindra is advancing its SUV lineup with multiple exciting updates, including the next-generation Bolero, the XEV 7e, a facelifted XUV700, and a more sophisticated XUV 3XO. Among these, the XUV 3XO remains a standout model, maintaining high demand with waiting periods stretching up to 10 weeks in certain cities. To better serve this growing market, Mahindra plans two major enhancements for the XUV 3XO range.
Mahindra XUV 3XO Hybrid
Mahindra is developing its first hybrid engine, slated for introduction in the XUV 3XO by 2026. While specific engine details remain under wraps, it is expected that the hybrid system will complement Mahindra’s robust 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. The hybrid XUV 3XO will retain its existing design and interior features, distinguished primarily by “HYBRID” badging.
Beyond strong hybrid powertrains, Mahindra is also investigating range extender hybrid solutions for its current INGLO platform vehicles, codenamed M130 and M330, signaling a broader push toward electrification.
Next-Generation ADAS Technology
In addition to powertrain upgrades, Mahindra is pioneering advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) tailored to Indian conditions. Recent sightings of an XUV 3XO prototype shrouded in heavy cloth and missing its front and rear bumpers reveal the integration of this next-gen ADAS technology.
Collaborating with Bosch, Mahindra aims to democratize ADAS by creating India-specific systems and algorithms that address local road challenges. This domestic development strategy is expected to significantly reduce the cost of these vital safety technologies, making advanced driver assistance more accessible across the brand’s portfolio.
With these innovations, Mahindra is poised to strengthen its foothold in the SUV segment while advancing toward a more sustainable and safer driving future.
